The number one issue is public safety in Minneapolis. Numerous reports from the City of Minneapolis Audit committee and research institute shows failure in Minneapolis Police Department, Minnesota legislature and policy makers.

We continue having conversation with the community on how we can have a police department that demonstrates transparency and accountability.

In the meantime, how do we move forward? Here is what Yussuf Haji for City Council Ward 9 is proposing.

1. Introduce a learning Management Program (LMS) – This tracks all officers after training, and locks out officers if they haven’t done their trainings or retraining.
2. Yearly Drug test to all officers from patrol to senior level.
3. Field training officers yearly that models respect to all communities
4. In support of the 9 bills in Minnesota 2021 legislative demands
   • End of Qualified immunity
   • Access to Body Cams
   • End of knock down warrants
   • Police professional liability insurance
   • An independent investigatory and prosecutor body
   • Ending prosecution for reporting police misconduct
   • End Statue of limitation on wrongful death
   • End police only responses to mental health crisis
   • An independent strong civilian Oversight board.
5. Introduce new innovative trainings, incentives, and practices to
   combat work stress, insomnia, high blood pressure that comes with the job.
