Small Business Recovery

Some of the most impacted businesses in Ward 9 is the Lake Street business corridor and the larger Minneapolis small businesses. As we adopt new ways of doing business due to the Covid-19 pandemic, here are few measures, City Council should do.

  • Offer funding support directly to small business – removing red
tapes that we saw with 2021 relief packages.
  • Holding forums with small business owners, and inquiring from them, how we can assist or offer support
  • Creating a safe environment with foot patrol
  • Building strategies by partnering with local community economic development organizations and Neighborhood Associations to promote consumer confidence and market resilience.
  • Building funding strategies that are data driven plans.
  • Bring partnership between the MN State departments, Nonprofits, and private sector to offer grants and incentives.
  • Partnering with MN Department of commerce to offer state-supported low interest loan programs, and recovery cash grants.
  • Creating an advisory committee on small business and entrepreneurship, to serve as a platform of new ideas, engage policy makers and promote innovations.
